From my walk this morning: Wingstems in full bloom and fungus on a tree trunk
Sprouting from the mossy trunk of a tree are several velvety mushrooms. They are not brackets but rather bell shaped. They are a pinkish beige color. Tall wildflowers are blooming in the understory of the woods. The flowers are bright yellow. These are not sunflowers (genus Helianthus) but rather genus Verbesina, along with frostweed crownbeard.

Hey #invert , #bugsky and #garden chat, what is this thing? Looks like an ootheca but it’s big, like roughly the size of a golf ball.

Just got done planting out 40 pots of native seeds for cold stratification and (hopefully!!) spring germination. 🌱

Mushrooms from my walk this morning
