I got to hand-drill a hole into a frozen creek today, my first time drilling into ice! It was so weirdly satisfying.
We were checking whether the ice depth was enough that it would be safe for children to play on the ice. This spot was solid, but up and down the creek from here the ice was too thin.

A magical birb came to visit the children at forest school today. Not a great photo - I was busy reveling in the wonder and awe of the moment. (A knowledgeable parent said it's likely a Boreal Owl.)
