31. Isle of Dogs

I knew I wanted to watch this from the very first ad, but I never got around to seeing it til now. And man, this shit was sublime. Just packed to the brim with beautiful little details. It got me tearing up for both normal and unfathomable reasons

Tetsuo is probably the 2nd or 3rd worst person in the story, but Otomo still takes the time to explore his character and humanize him. He's an arrogant, self-absorbed, cruel, mass-murdering piece of shit. He's a monster. Even so, he's driven by human thoughts and desires, and that's very interesting

The first bit feels SO Moebius. And, just in general, I've read a LOT of manga from the past 25 years, and Akira just feels soooo different from all of modern manga. It's really interesting to see how manga's changed over the years. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone

Otomo is seriously the best to ever do terrain destruction. The destructive events appear as unstoppable and their violence only barely fathomable, and they're followed by a profound sadness and quietness to match how horrifying and loud what came before. Truly awe inspiring

30. Akira

The movie being my favorite movie period, I always knew I was gonna like this, and holy shit dude. This was fantastic. It's amazing how reading this made me appreciate how incredibly the movie wraps everything up, even when there's so much to love in the story here

29. Some Like it Hot

26. Dune: Part Two

Wow. Holy fuck. Like actually what the fuck. Possibly the greatest visual and sound design I've ever seen in a movie? What the fuck. May your blade chip and shatter

25. Hades II

The first Hades is one of my favorite games of all time, and this doesn't disappoint, I'm loving the hell out of this game too. I rolled credits, but there's still tons to do so I'll be having fun with this game for a while, pushing the difficulty up just like I did with Hades 1 >:)

23. High Noon

Really great, there's so much anxiety. It does REALLY well creating very human characters with lived lives, & a history & how they've changed - all in the briefest amount of time. Everything about it feels very anti-mccarthyism, which was the point. And man, that b&w film is gorgeous

22. Dandadan S2

Yup. Yeah, that's the good shit. The glorp shit, even

The colors match Spoon's 2010 album Transference weirdly well, it coulda been the art for one of the singles

Since all of you are cowards, I am now halfway through reading Akira, and, unsurprisingly, I'm loving it
