A lovely wood well worth exploring!

Brilliant day at South Gare today… wasn’t the case sadly. And only about an hour. Scenery etc was up to scratch tho, as was weather, with heavy showers!

Is this Yellow field-cap perchance? 🍄

Decided to retire the moth traps for this year (probably).

First trap 9/3, last 9/11

37 nights (we were away a lot of mid-summer), 15 NF🔲 (SE09) and 1NF🔲 (SE19), a fair more NFM and only Wogan was when I left all my outside lights on😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Need to find some leaf-mines now… (quickly😂)

Anyone any idea what’s growing on this Wolf’s milk?

And yes the Mini and the “highways maintenance” truck have f**ked it😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Turns out to be 54/21 with 14 Y-L Q’s.

Away sadly for a few days. Could be the last trap of the season but ending on a high with two newbies for me (and the 🔲).

Started similarly with Oak beauty (NFM & 🔲)

Mebs quit whilst I’m ahead? 😂😂😂

Over 50 moths this morning including 13 Yellow-line Quakers (my record). A late Snout was a surprise as were two more new for the 🔲, Mottled Umber and Acleris rhombana.

Can’t understand why I’m suddenly getting so many moths, 50+ last night for instance.

My last two traps in May (I was away a lot of the summer) produced only 20+ each night (decent weather too).

Btw I’m 200m up a hillside surrounded by pasture in the N Pennines.

(Not complaining) 😂

Sunday was a fungi sort of day!

If the purple one is indeed a Lilac Fibrecap, it doesn’t appear to have been recorded in Swaledale previously 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ (NBN Atlas)

A few hours at a grey and cold @nosterfieldnr.bsky.social yesterday.

A few goldies, a few pinks, one reddy, one shely, and a cettis (golden plover, pink-footed geese, redwing and shelduck😂).

Highlight of the day tho was a large flock (4/500) of fieldfare on the moors on the drive over.

Not a first. Silly Martin misread a quote which I didn’t realise was from 1989 😂😂😂🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
Hope this is a Pearly underwing.

If so a VC first I think (unless any have been caught earlier this year?)
