Amateur novelist and mediocre cartoonist with delusions of game development. Unfortunately short on time and prone to silence.
I should REALLY work on the illustrations too.
"Let me stop the story's momentum to tell you what this guy looks like" chugs schween, but "floating nametags" is weak character design.
Cartoons are a super efficient compromise, but I have to ACTUALLY DRAW the cartoons first.

(2/2) Was drawing this one to Black Sabbath and a bunch of bands with "witch" in the name.
The tapestries in the back are Voim recreations of tarot card designs. Having Voims around adds multi-cultural crossover instead of just distinct cultures that sit around without mixing.

(2/2) Here's the red/blue channels separated without colored lenses. Might make the individual pieces easier to appreciate.
I REALLY like this one. You can read some cool stuff into this if you dig a little bit. It's neat.

(5/5) I'd love to communicate this stuff through presentation too. As her deck runs lower, her character portrait should get less loopy/dopey and more maniacal, and her voice lines should reflect that change in attitude based on her current potential as well.

(4/5) That fleeting lucidity is extremely important to her writing. A Seussie player will do a bunch of aimless flailing trying to burn through the deck, before doing something calculated and diabolical.
Her power level actually fluctuates quite a bit through a fight as a result.

(3/5) It's not 100% random, though. Drawing a random "item" removes it from her "deck". Once she's tossed all 4 of them, her deck is refilled and shuffled again.
Tracking her items and counting cards lets her predict some of her items, letting her occasionally exploit them better

(2/5) Seussie gets a little involved. Her "x-factor" revolves around a set of four projectiles that are all, on their own, much stronger than anything others can keep up with, but she picks which one to throw at random, and they do things that don't overlap much.

(3/3) Mama's alt version is "Papa", who I don't have a finished sketch of, but my rough draft of him is adorable.
Mama's a bit wild, but Papa is more gentle most of the time. Also, he IS a grappler, though less specialized than Jade because he's a bit lighter and more mobile.

(2/3) Mama's a mute patchwork of haunted fabric and cotton come to life for unknown reasons. She's fiercely protective of children and small animals, and distrustful of adults.
Despite being big/slow, she's more of a "big puncher" than a grappler really.

(3/3) Amber is NOT a grappler. She's just as slow and awkward, but she has a "sharpness" gauge that she can refill by "reloading" her spikes.
She's scares people into mistakes with chip damage and plus frames instead of throw mix, but limited sharpness makes that tricky.

(2/3) Good opportunity to introduce an important feature: I actually really like clone characters that re-implement assets to create something unique instead of thoughtless padding. Every character has a variation made by tracing over existing assets. This version is Amber.

(5/5) Cendre is also a mime, and her pantomimed objects are real for comedy's sake. The heat/smoke themed elemental effects on her attacks make the invisible objects partially visible for the player's sake, without completely ruining the bit.
Cendre is the best.
