Oh! If you're in Osaka, absolutely have to check out the dotonbori, around the river there's tons of street food vendors and you can pretty easily find a cruise going up and down it. Recommend going at night, cuz it's really pretty with all the lights and stuff lit up

If you're anywhere near the Kyoto area, highly recommend getting the train out to Uji. Cross the river via the big bridge where there's a statue of Murasaki Shikibu, wander through the cutest ye olde Japanese town to find Uji Shrine, cross back over at the other end for the most gorgeous view.
