Or imagine if someone you disagreed with had emergency powers with no checks on their actions. It shouldn’t take too much mental energy to come to the conclusion that checks on power are necessary and a keystone principle of the constitution.

House Republicans have essentially ceded emergency powers to Donny Trump through 2025. That should be concerning to you. If not, read a book.

Per the National Emergencies Act, if a resolution is introduced by any member of Congress to end a national emergency declared by the President, that resolution must be voted on within 15 calendar days. The House of Representatives has voted to stop time in order for this law not to take effect.
