It works if I add double quotes to signal that it isn't actually a genocide if they started it themselves and could end it at any time.

Standing up to actual violations of human rights might have nasty consequences so better not go after Russia and China and instead make up something about a micro nation that won't poison you or stop trading with you. A nice little democracy in the Middle East maybe?

I don't expect UN to do anything useful for peace.
It wasn't UN that stopped Rwanda (it fizzled out IIRC). They didn't stop the war in Yugoslavia (it was Nato++, and in particular some Swedes who had radio issues every time someone told them to step back and just observe the atrocities, wasn't it?)

The tragedy of Gaza is very real but should be compared to Germany in 1945, not Mariupol 2022 or Rwanda or Holodomor or any other actual genocide.

It would be even better if you also recognized that what happen in Gaza is completely different:
- Gazans started it
- Gazans could end it any time they wanted as proven yesterday

Very mad. Now the Gazans have not only started their own "genocide" but also proven that it was in their power to stop it too, and the solution was exactly what we had said the whole time: just release the hostages that they were holding against all international law.

I only care about the hostages getting home and Gazans learning to not doing it (decades of terror + finally the October 7th attacks) again.
