This paper has been a long time coming. It started as a smallish project with the goal to make a small phylogeny to place a couple of haplotaxid-like specimen, from there it grow to a large project including six authors and specimens from around the world.

We also have to describe new genera and families for the clades of newly collected specimens from the US and Japan. Haplotaxoides for a clade of specimens from western US, and Limpluvia and Ohtakiana for specimens from Japan.

The placement and monophyly of the family Haplotaxidae has been question before, and here we can show that the family is plolyphyletic, and therefore we describe the family Pelodrilidae for the three genera Pelodrilus, Hologynus, and Delaya, which form the sister-group to Metagynophora.

In the paper we estimate a phylogeny for Clitellata, with focus on Haplotaxidae and haplotaxid-like taxa. Based on the result we describe four species, three genera, four families, and four orders.
