1) Losing a fight can still be useful. It's not like any of the citizens resisting are winning a straight-up brawl, either.

2) They probably can't win against an armored convoy, but those ICE agents need to sleep somewhere.

Yeah that...seems fine to me tbh. Like if my choice is between a perpetual Republican court and a vacuum at the top, I'll take the vacuum. We have lower courts, so it'll suck but we can go for a few years with the top spot empty.

At the end of the day though, these people are stupid. It may be productive to think about what options our actions give them--but there's no point thinking about what they "want". They're a mess and even they don't know what they're going to do.

There are two reasons they might be doing this:

1) Hoping to win through sheer terrorism. This basically never works, but people still try it.

2) Try to provoke a violent response, then deploy the US military. Could work, but they have to win the narrative war first.
