I think she’s pissed and going after this guy in whatever way she can. However her texts do imply that’s she is pro-life so it’s not clear that she cares about negative implications of this case to abortion rights.

I read the complaint which includes text messages between her and the man. It was clear that she wanted the pregnancy and his behavior was pretty awful. He literally left her hemorrhaging, she had to get an Uber for her disabled mother to come take care of her kids so she could go to the hospital.

I read the complaint, he has a a name that has a gender neutral shortened version which is the name the prescription was issued in.

US District Court, Southern District of TX (Corpus Christi).

I live in TX, the answer to that is a definite no. TX was sued by the Ed Dept in 2016 for capping special Ed service for students. Hundreds of thousands of kids who should have received special education services did not. With no oversight at the Fed level, they will do it again.

I can’t imagine how physically and emotionally challenging this work must be. As a Texan, I am grateful for all the support provided to help the people impacted by this tragedy.

I live in TX. In 2007, a low water crossing over a creek in my neighborhood flooded and an elderly couple were caught in the flood and the man drowned. The city (pop. ~46,000) tore down the bridge and built a new, higher one at a cost of $1.2MM. It serves only our neighborhood, after ONE death.

In this case, it was local county commissioners who kept making this decision. Local elections matter.Wimberley had a similar tragedy in 2015 though not nearly as fatal. They installed more sophisticated warning systems. So did Comfort, in the same area.
July 9, 2025 at 12:50 PM
The proposed warning system was $980,000. Kerr County has the 2nd highest concentration of millionaires per capita in the state. The legislature had a $24B surplus going into the last session. James Avery jewelry, headquartered in Kerrville just pledged $1M for relief! This was a deliberate choice.

Keep in mind TX has serious gerrymandering and voter disenfranchisement. Nearly 5 million of us voted for Harris in 2024, I voted so this wouldn’t happen to anyone’s children, not just mine. Less than 5% of our population swung the vote for Trump, less than 3% for Abbott. It’s not all of us.
July 9, 2025 at 12:34 PM
Except it’s pretty clear there were adequate warnings. I live 100 miles away and I’m covered by the same weather service office that serves Kerr county. We also had flooding and we had numerous flash flood warnings starting the day before. We knew of the flood possibilities.

The proposed alert system that they declined to implement cost $980,000. Kerr County has the second highest number of millionaires per capita. TX had a $24B surplus going into the last legislative session. A commissioner complained that the sirens would be annoying. They made a choice.

There’s a woman on TikTok who follows ICE agents all day long, they try to shake her and they can’t!
July 9, 2025 at 4:00 AM
True, but even she doesn’t appear to care for him all that much.
July 8, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Coincidentally that is the same thought everyone in his family had when he said he’d be joining them on vacation.

I for one am thrilled that we are making candy healthier. That’s so much better than universal healthcare and ensuring children are fed. Can’t wait for the roll out of tanning beds in elementary schools to replace the gender surgery suites.
July 8, 2025 at 1:55 PM
I did some digging. It’s around $1MM. The county applied for a grant of $980k to fund a flood warning system but when they didn’t get it, they did not pursue the project. 53,000 people live in Kerr County, so for about $20 per person, they could have implemented this.
July 7, 2025 at 6:52 PM
One of our local meteorologists said predicting where and how much rain will fall is impossible. The Nat’l weather center issued several flood watches and warned of potential flooding on July 3rd. Emergency alerts were activated at 1:14 am on July 4th in Kerr County, followed by several more.

The TX legislature had a $24B surplus going into this year’s legislative session. A similar tragedy happened in Wimberley in 2015. Those of us who live in Central TX have the phrase “turn around don’t drown” drilled into us because flash flooding is a real and ever present danger.
July 7, 2025 at 6:22 PM
I’d be curious to know what the cost of an early warning system is, nothing has been published about this expense that taxpayers wouldn’t pay for. Also, now is a good time to point out that TX had a $24B budget surplus going into this year’s legislative session.

Because other people say shitty things it justifies you saying a shitty thing? I had empathy for people in CA when their homes were destroyed by fires. I donated money to help them, I didn’t say they deserved it.
July 6, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Kerrville ranks second in Texas for millionaires per capita. It’s an area with a lot of wealthy retirees and tourism. They could find the money for an early warning system.
July 6, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Exactly. TX voters face serious gerrymandering, disenfranchisement, and regressive policies. People saying “we” voted for this makes me so angry. Especially when “this” is the lives of innocent children.
