You believe 7-year-olds should monitor weather and emergency alerts? That's what the camp's RESPONSIBLE ADULTS were supposed to do. Some camps nearby heeded alerts and took action. The real question is, why didn't Camp Mystic? And why were youngest, most vulnerable housed closest to the river?

Grow up AyAy. Auschwitz IS a concentration camp, and one of the few that even rednecks have heard about, so it's a good way to help rubes like you make the connection.

Brokenhearted & so angry. Each child that dies is an incalcuable loss. Every child who loses a sibling carries trauma for life; each survivor carries wounds forever. Fuck useless prayers that assume JEZUS gives a damn. Fuck that camp for placing youngest kids at the riverside.

This isn't a safe idea. Never teach babies that plastic bags are toys. What if kid falls asleep in highchair (as babies do) and is face down into that baggie that could conform to his face??

There was a copy of JAWS in a house where I was babysitting. Silly me, I started reading it soon as kids were asleep and then was jumpy as heck when the parents came in from the garage. They let me borrow the book and finish it, though. I couldn't wait to see the film a month or two later.

By the way, while I was working in medical facilities, I met plenty of racists, anti-science bigots, and low-wattage shift zombies who were probably endangering patients every day of their working lives. So color me unimpressed.

SDCC back in the 80s, when it wasn't giant moshpit it became. Since then, NY CC, little fan-run cons, Wizard Con Philly, Starfury Con in the UK (launch of Serenity Firely movie!) Grew up a Trekker & basic sci-fi geek, joined more fandoms as I rolled on ;-)
