Academic turned activist because I think everyone deserves to understand that human beings are born already connected.
Always keen to talk ACEs, trauma and attachment -- especially through the lenses of Tigers&Teddies and Fierce Curiosity.
I stopped to speak to these swans recently. I thanked them for the lessons they offer in Gracefulness. #Grateful to start my day with that wisdom.

When you are tidying & carrying too many things at once & the confetti goes everywhere. #Grateful for a mess.
I think I'll leave it in place.

"The results of this new study support the recognition of school absenteeism as a salient ACE-associated outcome, adding to a growing body of literature that has demonstrated the negative impacts of ACEs on educational attainment and performance." www.academicpedsjnl.net/article/S187...

Today I told stories of creative schools at a gatherng of 200+ @thriveapproach.bsky.social practitioners. One of those was Our Lady of Lourdes Primary in @westlothiancouncil.bsky.social , who was named top primary in Scotland for their attainment outcomes. Who helped them get there? Teddy Bears!

That's the milk finished. But there was just enough left for one cup. #Grateful way to start my day.

I know I talk about #sunshine a lot, but it makes my world -- including my internal world of ordinary furniture -- a more beautiful, sparkling place. I start my day #grateful for sunshine.

The very real sense that my plants are living, breathing beings -- as they creep steadily toward the light. No wonder I talk to them. #Grateful

Look at this slide from the Speech & Language Workshop at Scottish Childminding Assoc this morning.
Vocabulary at age 5 is a predictor of:
- Literacy skills at age 11
- Unemployment at age 35
- Adult mental health
Attuned, joyful relationships in childhood matter.

"I found that really emotional and shed a few tears."
YES! Even online! Tears are always a sign of success for me. They are a sign of people being courageous in contemplating edgy questions. Thank you Scottish Childminding Assoc.

An illustration at today's Scottish Childmindng Association
- of the depth of relationships fostered by childminders. "I am in her phone as 'my second mum'." The importance of such relationships is why I also talked about the loss/end of them as 'bereavement'. Facing this takes courage from adults.

Comments like this from members of Scottish Childminding Assoc make it worthwhile being online on a sunny Saturday morning. 😀😀
- "Learnt so much"
- "Was wonderful"
- "Thank you"
- "Each time gets better"

This morning's online session with Scottish Childminding Association. I understand we have 400 folks coming! I hope they leave my session, and the event, understanding how important they are. They craft relationships with children that change their brains.

Tonight marks the second session of #TheTrevarthenSeries. It is so interesting bringing together these insightful researchers on infant experience. Tonight is Maya Gratier from Paris, exploring the richness in singing between parents & babies.

More feedback from tonight's session of #TheTrevarthenSeries. Many thanks to Prof Vasudevi Reddy for taking us to places of deep reflection. Looking forward to next week's session with Prof Maya Gratier, tuning in from Paris.

What a lovely bit of feedback for this evening's first session of #TheTrevarthenSeries. As another participant said: "Teasing & shyness. Who knew they could be so profound?" Great start to a month full of conversations!

14. And finally. Finally the audience can hv their long-promised story. That story will include lots of humiliating imitation, such as at 1.02. The audience will laugh lots, because he is willing to be so silly in front of them. They will feel special because he's been vulnerable in that silliness.

13. By .26: "What the hell. I've been in lots of trouble before." Laughter ripples.
Wow, he is good.
'I am the bad boy of your dreams. I've been in big trouble before from that mean Mommy-Wife, and it doesn't stop me! You matter more to me she does. You are special. Let's be naughty together.'

12. By 22: "Alright. [I'll do it, for you]. I'm in trouble when I get home, but that's okay."
He's definitely reeled them in. 'We'll be naughty together. You matter more to me than that mean Mommy-Wife of mine. We can sneak together. What fun! And it's your fault. You said it was okay. No me.'
