#wicklow today. At least the monsoon-like rain has stopped for few hours. This is a barely field harvested in September, with crop coming up again in the warm temperatures

#Rye is the grain of the moment with 1000 hectares more planted this year than in 2024. I visit Dunsany Farm and Mill in #Louth to talk about growing rye, and McNallys farm shop to eat their gorgeous #rye foods. On CountryWide @rteradio1.bsky.social tomorrow morning 🌾

Ireland has too many deer, so why don’t we eat more #venison? This and other aspects of our new deer management strategy will be explored in a panel discussion I’m chairing in the FRS tent at the National Ploughing Championships at 11.30am #ploughing2025

Delighted to be at the launch of a new BA in Sustainable Butchery and Gastronomy at MTU #Cork. In the same way sommeliers champion wine, ambassadors in butchery can shout about how great #Irishbeef is.
Not surprisingly Pat Whelan of James Whelan Butchers played a big part in this 👏🏻✨

Glad to see this lot gone. In 2019 they tried to get me on a food press trip to Israel. I pointed out they’d held me at the border last time I traveled through Israel. And promoting apartheid is not my thing. But other Irish went. All these regimes eventually fall and this one will too. Help it fall

Our four new hens arrived from an indoor barn two days ago. We never bring hens in normally but they would not go in their house and feathers were freezing
