#SupportedHousing shortages caused 109k days of delayed discharge from mental health hospitals in 2023-24.

Last week, we met with @rcpsych.bsky.social and Look Ahead to discuss the value of this vital sector.

We must #SaveOurSupportedHousing with boosted funding at the #SpendingReview.

Did you know?

Supported housing saves the government up to £15,500 per person annually, but years of funding cuts mean providers are at breaking point and schemes are closing across the country. Without it, homelessness, NHS delays, and reoffending will rise.

New MHCLG stats show child #Homelessness & #RoughSleeping continue to soar:

164k kids in temp accommodation (up 16%)
4,667 people rough sleeping (up 20%)

This is no way to live or for a child to grow up - a result of years of cuts & policy failure

We need a #PlanForHousing

NHF welcomes govt's commitment to funding for homelessness services & prevention.

However without funding for #SupportedHousing the homelessness crisis will continue to worsen.

Ahead of the Spending Review, we’re calling on govt for ringfenced funding for housing related support.

I’m on a @gwr.com train, 5 carriages instead of 9. It’s packed. I’m standing in the bike space next to two bikes. The same thing happened this morning. Why?

Absolutely shocking 40,000 increase in children in TA in two years from 2022-24. We need more social homes and a welfare system that covers the cost of rent
November 29, 2024 at 4:33 PM
Shocking new data from MHCLG

🚨159,380- Record no. of children in #temporaryaccommodation - up 14.6% in a year

🚨18,380 - Record no. of households in bed & breakfast since 1998.

This crisis can be solved and we look forward to seeing govt's long-term housing strategy in the spring🏘️

Bex Clarke @ FPHA: Over 2000 people with a learning disability in mental health hospitals for an average of 4.9 years @ a cost of £1000 a day. A supported housing home would cost £5000 per year but there isnt enough #supportedhousing for people who need it #HousingCommunitySummit

We have an ageing population- in the next 40 years, the number of people aged 80 and over will increase by 100%! But people will not all age with good health and the types of homes provided need to meet their needs (Centre for Ageing Better) #HousingCommunitySummit

We need ring-fenced funding to protect #supportedhousing
September 5, 2024 at 4:04 PM
Ahead of the #AutumnStatement the NHF are calling for ring-fence funding to provide housing & support to all who need it.
That should be a key part of a long-term plan for #SupportedHousing that ensures everyone can live as independently as possible, in a home that meets their needs.
