LOL! I had a 20lb Jack Russell who did the same thing. I would wake up on the very edge of the bed. Of course, he would have all the covers too.

My JRT rarely barked. He growled at invaders to our yard but otherwise he was a talker & liked to "Woo Hoo" people.
I have to thank his original owner, an older woman with white hair, who trained him. He never forgot her & was so disappointed that he never found her again.
