A-Z of @SUTranscription. R is for …Recording Centre for the Blind. When the Transcription Centre opened in 1995, it was originally called the Recording Centre for the Blind. However, support for visually impaired students at Swansea University dates back much further than this!

A-Z of @SUTranscription. O is for OCR or Optical Character Recognition - the electronic conversion of images of text into machine encoded text. This renders text accessible and saves us transcribers so much time, although we do still need to proofread! 😀
