So pleased to be returning to #UNB again today to present to all final year engineers. Topic: the challenges of climate change, and the opportunities our energy transition offers. It's one of my favourite audiences, because of the critical roles engineers will play in decarbonizing our world.

So - what was the carbon footprint of last summer's epic 16,000 km cross-Canada EV road trip? And how does it compare to doing the trip with a gas vehicle like a Civic sedan or an F-150 pickup? Finally got to doing the math; some interesting results here: changeyourcorner.com/the-carbon-f...

“Canadians will be our own best customer, creating more well-paying careers at home, as we strengthen and diversify our trading partnerships throughout the world." - Mark Carney, in response to our betrayal by the US.

#Elbowsup, Canada, esp in face of the latest tantrum from the betrayer-in-chief.

Two very different stories from my newsfeed this morning. Gotta wonder if they might be related... #solar #wind #storage #deathofcoal

Danielle Smith puts a pittance ($14m = less than 1/20 of 1% of the $34B cost of the TransMountain pipeline) on the table to try to bluff us all into believing that a pipeline no company is willing to build is 'nation building'.

Nation building is about the future, not the past.

Learning for a Sustainable Future is a great source of curriculum-linked age-appropriate climate & sustainability resources for K-12 teachers. This, profiled in their latest newsletter, jumped out at me. Very topical as our young people struggle to come to grips with climate change. lnkd.in/gdwaUzPt

If crisis is opportunity, this year's record drought is a perfect time to develop good water conservation habits – habits that make sense not just during dry spells, but all year, every year. Tips here: changeyourcorner.com/a-drought-is...

In this year of the staycation, you might wonder: is it possible to drive across Canada in an EV? And is it cheaper than gas? I’m happy to report that the answer to both questions is YES! We're just back from a 16000 km trip from NB to BC; key takeaways here:

Yes, another of my yada yada posts about solar - but I'm thinking, "Who wouldn't want a power bill like this, our most recent?"
It's all thanks to our solar system, which provides all the electricity we need to power our home and charge our EV. Huge potential for NB and all NBers I'm thinking!!

Yep, we're still on for tomorrow's Solar Open House; the rain just means the panels will be squeaky clean!! www.facebook.com/events/12334...

These two arrays are the reason our power bill has been zero for over a year... a flatline is actually a good thing!

If you're #solar-curious or #solar-interested, feel free to attend our #Solar Open House on Saturday, May 24 from 10-4 - more info at the event page: www.facebook.com/events/12334...

Our Solar Open House planned for this weekend has been POSTPONED. We're hoping to reschedule soon; I'll post details here with a new FB Event page as soon as plans fall into place.

Climate change may have been elbowed off of the political priority list this election, but it's still an enormous & critical issue.

Here's a quick summary of what the 4 major parties have announced to now. (*= nothing so far)

Please VOTE, & please remember climate change when you do!

In the world of health care, 'flatlining' is a very bad thing - but in the world of energy consumption, it's actually a very good thing.

This, from our February NB Power bill: for the first time ever, flatlined (IE net zero) for 12 months straight, thanks to free energy from the sun!! #Solar

I first took an Al Gore-led training in 2007. It was a life-changer; I wouldn't be doing what I do if not for that amazing opportunity.

So it's exciting to see this happening in Vancouver (with Mr. Gore joining remotely this time). More info here: www.climatereality.ca/vancouver2025 #ClimateReality

A wintery day in Canada - perfect for waving our flag and being proud of all it stands for!

Happy Flag Day to my fellow Canadians. We are - and will always be - the True North, Strong and Free!

The current crisis is forcing CDNs to rethink our heavy reliance on the US & to envision a more diverse, entrepreneurial & self-reliant future.

Here's a thoughtful, polite,... well, Canadian!... pledge to underpin such rethinking. Worth reading, & even signing!

Just one more thing that astounds and disappoints through all of this foolishness.

What a disgusting lack of compassion, empathy & humanity in reacting to the tragedy of flight 5342. A new low, even for him - that's saying something. Hopefully enough good Americans are awakening to the huge mistake they've made & can salvage things before it all falls apart completely down there.
