A mere bagatelle compared to the £10bn they’ve spaffed on civil servants - whose only job is to be paid to make everyone poorer

Suspect it was her husband..

Confirmation from RMI with up-to-date data of the classic S-shaped adoption curves being followed by renewable energy technologies👇

It would be good to see similar data on cost to update Doyne Farmer's seminal 2022 paper so policymakers can make better decisions.

Have now skimmed this. Shockingly light on key details Chris. What happened?

-no storage numbers in G/TWh

-no detail on decoupling

-nothing about how & when we'll get the ~10TWh to cover the annual statistical 2x10 day Dunkelflaute

-LDES only uses unscaled & uneconomic CCS & H2P

-recycling?

Why are they STILL confusing POWER with CAPACITY?

1GW for 1 hour is completely different from 0.5GW for 1 week..

How can you publish a critical report without estimating battery storage capacity, and just relying on power?

Lots of words in the new 2030 plan BUT:

1) Nuclear FALLS by 2030 😬

2) 94 mentions of "storage" - but little quantification

3) ZERO mentions of recycling - what are UK plans for turbine blades and batteries in the transition..??

Cell prices are 1/2 of that level again.

When do you forecast - approximately - cell prices reaching the next order of magnitude lower, at $10/kWh?

I'm sure you're familiar with the Doyne Farmer paper:

Macron's list of artisans who worked on restoring Notre Dame was beautifully evocative - and had some new French nouns!

-"Dinandiers" - coppersmiths

-"Equarisseurs" - is there a translation? It's a specialised woodworker who producers square-section beams from tree trunks!

The desirable EV age is finally dawning..

Led by Renault and Hyundai, who'd have thought it?

Shows how great products can revitalise companies ✅

Would you pay >£100,000 for an unproven Jaguar Taycan..with JLR reliability and no rear window? 😬

Brexit dealt the UK mass market car industry a double blow from which it will never recover.

Labour should stick to the plan to salvage what remains of the potential market.
November 27, 2024 at 11:26 AM
Brexit killed UK mass market EV and battery industry - and thus car industry - years ago.

There is no point fighting China who've already scaled the mass market industry far beyond where the UK (and most of EU) can ever reach.

Focus on where we're good: battery modelling, high end, specialist.

Domestic time shifting in action 👇 one family at a time - download the data from Octopus and graphed up as you can't see it visually on their dashboard yet..

If more companies showed something like this, people would convert much faster.

Apparently there’s a python widget 👇 which automatically duplicates your Bluesky posts to Twitter.

I’ll try, and report back.

China is years ahead in scaling all parts of the EV and battery ecosystem, except in premium cars.

In 2024 Chinese manufacturers have launched range extenders - medium size batteries and small petrol engines. Only BMW has tried this before.

Lotus adopting them shows the engineering sense.
