This is very much part of the problem with modern Christians who don’t study or read the Bible beyond what is read in sermons if it is read at all. I definitely misremembered what I tried to quote on my lunch break which I apologize for and tried to correct

Thank you and I’m sorry. I’m just trying to find a word that people who don’t or haven’t studied the Bible at all might know. I wrote the original post quickly on my lunch break and misremembered the part of the Bible I was trying to quote which I did look up and corrected when it was pointed out.

Thanks!

Thank you for informing me some of the people I’ve responded to are Jewish. I’ll try & look at profiles in the future before responding & hopefully be able to phrase my replies in a way that shows a respectful engagement & conversation. I appreciate BlueSky is a place where this can happen!

I apologize if I’ve offended. I’m not NOT listening to the Jewish people because quite frankly I didn’t realize they (and you?) are Jewish because a user name doesn’t tell me that. What I am saying & responding to is from an American Christian point of view question which was the original prompt.

I’ve been wondering about it, hesitant because of it being in Chinese and data agreements that I couldn’t read if I wanted to. But THIS how it can/will censor what topics I might what to know or talk about 🙃

But for most people who don’t study the Bible it is Pharisees as the more general overarching term. Could we say similar to not knowing about Baptist, Calvinist, Pentecostal, Catholic etc?

Yes, I was thinking more the moneychangers and seller being thrown out in John 2:13-16

True going by semantics it was the money-changers & those selling things: John 2:13-16 but it was the Pharisees who allowed it much like Christians today are allowing people like this

This is why Jesus cast the Pharisees out of the temple. They were preaching the words, but were hypocrites and had no faith.
At best, he is a hypocrite, but I feel like he is probably a bad faith actor using Christianity to excuse his behavior

Growing up as a Christian, we read the Bible & it always taught that faith without works is not faith at all if you preach the words, but cannot follow with actions you are not following Christ. The reverse is true if you have actions, but no faith you are hypocrite & not a follower of Christ

This doesn’t affect me (I think) at least at the moment, but I’ve reposted the thread, liked, & commented so more will see it. Extremely disturbing that they’re doing these loyalty conversations!
