Looks like Novavax's #Nuvaxovid is widely available. Of course, I'm skeptical, so I'm on the phone waiting for one of The Little Clinic's folks to confirm. Unsurprisingly, the person I'm talking with (non-pharmacist) has "never heard of that."😔 www.nuvaxovid.com/vaccine-loca...

Just got word: YES!

I think Chase might really want to rethink throwing in a damned AI blurb at the top of their email offers 😂
No, thank you, I am NOT interested in a 99% promotional interest offer. Yes, that seems a BIG mistake 🙃

Thx for the reminder. Just seeing this as I log in. Will post premium info once I've gone through whatever this application process is this year...
I don't think COVID-related coverage changes are quite going to account for the ugliness I anticipate finding.

"Becoming Madam Secretary" by Stephanie Dray. Fictionalized history of the Secretary of Labor, Frances Perkins. Cover attached.
Excellent! (audio version well done)

2/2 "for instance, the Bureau of Immigration’s 'Section 24' squad, known for their illegal apprehension tactics which violated due process."

Can highly recommend this book by Stephanie Dray (2024). Fictional first person but with many profound, factual connections to current nightmares in D.C.

#HealthInsurance #UHC 🤔😵

For cataract evaluation at ophthalmologist (screenshot attached)
$ 718 billed
$ 194 billed + $10 copay

Shouldn't actual healthcare providers hate insurance even more than us poor peasants ?!

I happen to have a cat who likes biscuits!
Little Willow is otherwise incredibly picky with all her kitty food -- oh my, so much wasted $ on dozens of different cans, pouches that went untouched. I mean, she doesn't even like tuna juice! 😺
But she's a sweetie of course

"'There’s a lot of administrative work, and we don’t have enough people,' Lauderdale said. 'You can use reliable, safe artificial intelligence to streamline months of a process down to weeks and eventually and down to days.'"
Ugh 😖
Maybe hire humans instead.
What could go wrong?

Spouse found this little 2" critter in a parking lot and found it a better spot (it was cute how much effort he put in to problem-solving its circumstances)

What do you see after staring at the middle of this green/black/yellow flag image for about 20 sec and then shifting to look at a blank wall? (blink a time or two as needed)
Very cool retina you have there (tho' if you are colorblind, it won't work)...
July 19, 2025 at 9:28 PM
Yes!
This one is mine

Our visual system is so cool! It was one of my favorite things to teach in Intro Psych. The opponent process cells of the retina created one of the best illusions: Use a bright screen, stare at image for ~20 sec (blinking fine), then shift vision to a bare surface.
Does not work for colorblind folks
