Agree. How can we expect to professionalise when the broadcast is so poor 🤦🏼‍♀️

Honestly, I think there is a lot of expectation and pressure on the EN leadership to get this right. Their only frame of reference for "what good looks like" is SSN so they've looked there for inspiration. I just hate any org. crying "innovation" when it's not. It's a buzzword to attact sponsors.

I confess, I've gone back to see the super shot chat 😬

Throwing in a highly divisive, unproven new rule which significantly changes the tactics and style of play is a choice that screams lack of confidence in the new "product". Fewer teams, fewer players, new clubs, arenas, new broadcast deals... was all of that not enough? 3/3

I find the "new league, new rules" mentality surprising. NSL 2.0 is an evolution of an existing competition within a sport that has one of the highest participation rates of any sport in the UK and one where we are internationally competitive. 2/3

I know! I'm very much a Gary fan (and always will be!) but that was really rubbing salt in the wound.

I know how you feel. TBF I could see Claire's excitement when she first started, but she received a lot of negative comments and went v quiet on Twitter. It's more than one person - there are some really experienced people at EN / NSL so perhaps we just need to trust they know what they're doing 🤞

Based on what I've seen on Twitter / X, Debbie has been an outspoken advocate for the Super Shot for well over a year!

Yes I'm sure she is. The sad thing is I don't think fans or clubs are resistant to change if it'll help grow the game, but for whatever reason they aren't consulted or taken on the journey.

Karen Greig says no! Shocking yet not surprising sadly...

Ah, what a great way to engage your key stakeholders!
December 6, 2024 at 6:10 PM
It's so frustrating! To be fair to EN, they have been doing more fan research recently, and you'd hope that would lead to making data-driven decisions... but this doesn't feel like something that would have majority support from knowledgeable fans. If it ain't broke... 🤷‍♀️

I completely agree - the NSL boasts of this being "innovative" but they've just borrowed another league's concept 🤦🏼‍♀️

We already have #Fast5 with a varied points / distance format - why not develop that as a sister competition and specialist format for players that suit the style of play?
December 6, 2024 at 1:18 PM
Were coaches and players aware of this when building the squads for the new season? Were players selected based on their ability to thrive under this format?
