At the time, I screamed into what seemed a giant void that the entire news industry in this country had abandoned its chief responsibility -- to separate truth from bullshit in a way the public could grasp.

Moreover, FNC's competitors -- CNN, the NY Times, WaPo, the major TV networks -- all welcomed the unofficial propaganda arm of the Republican Party into the fold as though they were just another legitimate news operation.

*That* was the moment when blinding the public to reality became strategy.
