What if the Brit Humes of the world had stayed the hell away from an obvious propaganda operation?

What if legitimate journalists had spoken up from the beginning about the dangers of a propaganda organ pretending to be a news operation?

What if?

American journalism collapsed in that moment.

At the time, I screamed into what seemed a giant void that the entire news industry in this country had abandoned its chief responsibility -- to separate truth from bullshit in a way the public could grasp.

Moreover, FNC's competitors -- CNN, the NY Times, WaPo, the major TV networks -- all welcomed the unofficial propaganda arm of the Republican Party into the fold as though they were just another legitimate news operation.

*That* was the moment when blinding the public to reality became strategy.

Turn your backs. Be visible. Be strong. Be united. With your backs turned.

Except that the version on the WH page is edited significantly. And of course, Fox news will select only the most favorable clips.
