I was once a little girl watching my Mom's shame using food stamps. Behind every policy are real families, real struggles, and that shame compounds. This can happen to anyone. Behind every statistic is a child watching their parents’ dignity being tested—the impact will last the rest of their lives.

These are Black Vultures, taken at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge on September 11th. Lifer Bird! I took as many photos as I could! I wish my father were alive to see them with me. I spent most of my life birding with him.
