You’ve probably done this, and didn’t ask for advice, but my therapist taught me to say a neutral “Hmm” when someone gets going and if it continues, end the conversation. “I’m not going to discuss this. I’ll talk to you another time.” It’s so toxic and traumatizing when someone won’t make amends.

That’s so terrible. I’m sorry you’re going through that. My mom is nowhere near there and it’s such a painful mind fuck when I think we’ve really gotten somewhere and then she jumps back 20 years of progress.

I don’t think it’s an afterthought. I think it’s one of his last actions so that it will remind us how Peltier got there. I just hope Peltier knew it was coming so he and his people were not left in suspense.
