Not silly but spent the entire day teaching a friend to can. And now my legs are telling me “Good lord girl, sit your ass down!” Feeling very accomplished. Next up spicy plum chutney-medium level canning difficulty.

I garden (but would need a greenhouse or solarium) and can all that goodness. Please may I join you for at least part of the year. As I’m not Canadian, I don’t think I could stay year round.

In the face of an increasingly uncertain and ugly future, I spent yesterday teaching the younger generation how to can peaches. Perhaps less optimistic than planting a tree but optimism nonetheless. And she’ll get to sample the fruits of her labor in the deepest darkest midwinter.
