It's mostly blind decision trees like this that causes huge mistakes. When Elon fired a large group of employees at Twitter, he learned who he needed and who he didn't (the software was running as it had been built). You do the same thing at the federal level and you actually kill people.

I'm reading Master Slave Husband Wife by IIyon Woo and I'm sensing a lot of similarities to the plight of undocumented people in our country and the fugitive Southern slaves who escaped North in the pre-war era. Lots of literature and film, especially sci-fi, is going to feel timely right now.
