The joint tour leg (David Bowie/Nine Inch Nails) was in fall 1995, during Bowie's Outside tour. That is, *before* the Earthling album, not after. Work on Earthling started in Aug 1996 (produced by David Bowie, co-produced by Reeves Gabrels and Mark Plati). Earthling was released in Feb 1997.
