Well that got me thinking - and now I have a list !
But if I had to narrow it down to one literary character I think it would be Hercule Poirot - great in the ballroom but it would be super to see him let himself go in the Latin dances !

There used to be a sign proclaiming in very angry letters - there is NO ferry at Stromeferry!! Used to make me giggle every time I passed it.
