Symptoms of shock in survivors include:
adrenaline surges
anxiety
panic
difficulty breathing & remembering
chest tightness
nausea
disorientation
dissociation
sleep disturbance
flashbacks
pain & tension in the body
new phobias and fears
isolation feeling alone & misunderstood
regression
depression

Some things to NOT say to survivors:
"They were in the wrong time, wrong place."
"It's all for the best."

The one thing to not do: Ignore the survivors.

Signs of shock in survivors include:

Some of the things you can do for survivors in the immediate aftermath of a shooting:
Offer to bring food (ask about allergies)
Drive relatives to/from the airport
Take care of the pets
Sit with them
Refill meds if they need it
Understand they might be in shock or denial
Ask: what can I do to help
