I often wonder about the lives of the wildlife I photograph. It’s a scene of beauty contrasting with survival. Take this black-capped chickadee. Notice anything unusual? They are fearless, tiny birds that punch above their weight. This one lived to fight another day but apparently paid a price.

1-year Christmas kitty anniversary — this little Maine coon gal, Frankie, showed up on our doorstep a year ago on Dec. 21. No owners came forward, so we kept her, of course.
