They give part time hours while requiring full time availability and running skeleton crews. They don’t provide sick leave because in most cases they don’t do anything to cover the gap except call in someone under duress and cycle in low wage workers. Your posited incentives assume employer care

Recycling economies are thriving in parenting spaces. At least 2x a year we sell gently used items and clothes from our kids, volunteer our time, and purchase the next things we need at child focused consignment pop ups. It breeds community and eases our consumption. I rarely buy new kids clothes.

It’s not because you are a woman. I promise. It’s not even because of “traditional values”. Pedigree, gender, faith, and life choices cease to matter when you embrace an ideology predicated on controlling others. You get mocked because derision seems to be the only thing that lands.

societal good. It’s hard enough to partner with single orgs, the more decentralized the tech the more connections we may need to maintain. I’m sure it can be solved, it’s daunting and I’m excited to see what happens. Hope all developers have child safety in mind, esp related to the worst stuff.
