Here’s what I carry when I know the grid might fail (and yes, I’ve used all of these):

✅ Printed local maps (laminated)
✅ Pre-written emergency contacts & meds
✅ Cheap backup phone w/ offline texting apps
✅ Licensed HAM radio
✅ Notebook with escape plans, meet points, codes

Your phone depends on:

⚡ Electricity
📡 Cell towers
📶 Data networks

All of which are gone-or overloaded-within minutes of major disasters.

Everyone thinks their phone is their lifeline.

Until it becomes a dead rectangle when you need it most.

It happened during Hurricane Ian. People couldn’t even pull up Google Maps to evacuate.
Zero service. No power. No backup.
