We’re covering a lot in today’s Cabinet meeting, including agreeing a balanced budget for 2026/27. This is despite reduced government funding and rising costs. The budget will then be taken to the Full Council meeting next week for approval.

The government has made its decision on Local Government Reorganisation in Surrey.

It has confirmed that Surrey will move to two new unitary councils from April 2027. These will be East Surrey and West Surrey. 1/7

Small, closed spaces such as stationary cars can get dangerously hot very quickly. Keep children in prams or pushchairs shaded. Make sure there is adequate air flow and check on them regularly to make sure they don’t overheat. More information: orlo.uk/C2BeR
Look out for people who might struggle to keep cool. If you have vulnerable family, friends and neighbours, make sure they are aware of how they can keep themselves cool

Local government structures in Surrey are changing. The Government wants areas like Surrey to become Strategic Authorities, led by an elected Mayor. Surrey must first reorganise into unitary councils. 1/5
