tbh it's a moment where John synced up with Taupin's creative approach by not bothering to complete the song

I guess I doubt the script actually describes him racially, just "hot man", and casting people of non-specific race removes the potential contextual subtext of some specific-race choices. and mixed-race people probably struggle for casting in general so let's laud the opportunity... & write better.

mixed white-and-black, I think. I don't have a full grok of the trope but it's something happening. It means the character is going to be harmless, but also brainless

sitcoms portraying tall mixed-race men with lean muscularity, buzzcuts and facial hair as this inherently irresistible neighbour, that's objectifying and shallow and tedious, the extent of its specific iteration almost feels like a racial comment. shows a lapse in writing regarding women's interests

Working at the library I'd often direct people to the Post Office, which is part of Ryman since Royal Mail was ruined.

so I say "you know Ryman?" and they kinda don't understand until they manage to repeat it back to me as "Ryman's"
and I'm too autistic to say "Ryman's"
but they won't say "Ryman"

maybe Engagement needs a capital letter to comment on the construct version. Algorithm will measure clicks; it won't be able to measure intellectual engagement

not even just wit, like... I'm blanking on the word because it's less in my interests; what's it called when someone is good without being subversive or funny?
Historian presenters/writers. Maybe I'm delineating "engaging" from "engagement" & if something gets engagement now then it's successful but
