Given all the stones, a sign of respect for the dead in Jewish culture, I think he's quietly revered in the area and people think he's an awesome fella and it's just a thing.

Maybe it's an in-joke about how obscure Gibbs was despite his phenomenal importance. Maybe it's just something people decide to do, like putting locks on a bridge. Gibbs was a pretty awesome fella, so it's nice people remember him. Hope he doesn't milkshake duck retroactively.

(Pup can't even walk up stairs any more and it's a couple big steps up into brother's bed. Pup loves my brother so much.)

(He came to me because my brother's asleep and I'm awake; otherwise he's totally my brother's dog. Brother even built a step so pup could climb into bed with him. Always sleeps there. Pup just wanted awake comfort.)

While I comfort my dog, my cat tries to clean his ear. Wrong ear this time, but how the hell can he know?
