That's a real shame! Your kind of art is the art I'd LOVE to see at a gallery. 100% my cup of tea. The last art gallery I went to the only emotion it elicited in me was anger at paying to see talentless dreck. Half the stuff there was a bad joke (think MS Paint style coloured shapes, and lines??)

Your DF video on Crysis with high-end period hardware left me feeling the same - I knew it was really tough to run but geez I'd forgotten how rough it was. Though looking back I remember as a kid screwing around in the console a bunch to get it looking as good as possible without being a slideshow

If you want to do that I'd be curious to see! Though I believe you - I had an older Athlon 2400+ and the sound of the audio buffer looping and hitching is burned into my brain from childhood. I guess I forgot _how bad_ the performance was. Rose-tinted glasses!

I was a little surprised how poorly it ran on your period machine in the HL2 RTX vid, and on a quick google it looks like HL2 might've run a lot better on AMD processors. Dunno if HL2 was tuned well for them, or if they were perhaps better for gaming in general

I guess one solution would be if nvidia had the guts to open source PhysX, especially as they aren't interested in it anymore. Let the community build an implementation that runs on current hardware well. Kinda like id software used to do with their old engines

Yeah that's a really good point. The consoles especially were more intersting in the PS3/X360 days when they were such different hardware platforms. I also really love unique, interesting hardware, I guess it's hard to balance that with a love of openness and back/forward compatibility

It's one reason I hate closed, proprietary, incompatible APIs. People should never have to buy specific hardware to have a good experience.

I always thought your art occupied a cool niche as well. The scientifically-accurate nerdy art you do is awesome and not really something I've seen before!

Every now and then I encounter an issue in Windows that I have to fix, and I just wonder what my less techy friends and family would do without me or someone else techy in their lives to fix it. Just... have a broken computer? Unreal.

...It blows my mind that people go out of their way to say something mean or to pop someone's baloon. You could've said nothing at all.
