But Trump, to them, is the vessel for God‘s wrath and vengeance. He has to call for hatred against God‘s (and therefore his) enemies. In Christian nationalism, this isn’t a contradiction. And the praise Erika Kirk has gotten for forgiving her husband killer has so far largely ignored this 2nd aspect

And forgiveness is a powerful weapon in the arsenal of God's Kingdom. It is also good for the public sovereign, the state, the magistrate, the sword-bearer to exercise wrath in pursuit of justice, and to act with an iron fist against enemies of the civil order. Even against those forgiven by the privately harmed.
