Yesterday I jumped in a frozen lake to raise money for a local group that helps make the outdoors accessible to all. I look forward to this fun community event every year. In honor of America's 250th I did Paul Revere's Midnight Plunge. "The DOGE are coming, the DOGE are coming!" #america250

The good news: more people than ever are enjoying parks. The National Park Service reported a record-setting 331,863,358 (!) visits in 2024.

The bad news: This robust visitation is at extreme odds with the ongoing dismantling of the National Park Service.

In an analysis of National Park Service web content, NPCA found the federal government has deleted and scrubbed content related to LGBTQ+ history. NPCA condemns these changes and calls on @Interior to restore the materials for the public without delay. www.npca.org/articles/714...

Thank you @markey.senate.gov for speaking out about the reckless and indiscriminate firing of National Park Service staff! These amazing public servants deserve our respect not a callous dismal! @protectparks.bsky.social
Trump's attacks on the National Park Service—including firing 1000 National Park Service workers—will only bring chaos and confusion to our parks and their millions of visitors. National parks preserve our country’s nature, heritage, and history. We must save them, not sabotage them.

Tough time to be in DC but also inspired by the Suffragists in my visit to the Belmont Paul Women's Equality National Monument, getting an express tour of the Capitol rotunda and finding signs of resistance on the streets of the city.

Vote suppression cost Kamala Harris no less than 3,565,000 votes. If all legal voters were allowed to vote, and if all legal ballots were counted, Harris would have topped Trump’s official total by 1.2 million.
