Genshin Impact and anime take up most of my personality but I'm also nonbinary, like to read, have a cute dog, loves to cook, and every now and then I go outside and do photography.
However, if it's the US based recording studio that is trying to do AI stuff then that's a completely different issue and should be addressed. But also remember, sag has signed with AI projects so that's not an issue for the union leaders.

It's really coming back to the question that keeps getting refused to answer if it's Hoyo or if it's the recording studio. Hoyo has AI protection and that has been discussed time and time again so that's why the strike was actually just to make genshin a union project. Not AI protection.

I'm also now realizing, people want Hoyo to break the union law because they think they will break AI laws. But if they already want laws broken, why would they trust that Hoyo would keep the contracts if they would do illegal stuff to begin with?

People want Hoyo to break the Chinese union laws because they don't think the AI laws matter. So they they won't go union due to the law but people think they don't care about AI laws. Either way people are just expecting Hoyo to break laws

Real question, is it the studio that you need AI protection from? Mihoyo is a Chinese company so the law already says they can't recreate any voice using AI so the protection is there. Also other Genshin VAs have said their contracts with studios have protection. So what is different for yours?

Brianna Knickerbocker is also back!
June 18, 2025 at 2:23 AM
So what about Zach, Sarah, Brianna, and all others who are coming back now that the strike is over?
June 18, 2025 at 2:21 AM
I realized that and blocked them then went to bed lol

I was driving through Mississippi at the time so I couldn't take a picture but it was very yellow for me. This picture is super awesome though!!!
June 12, 2025 at 5:35 AM
So this is just made up silly words?
June 12, 2025 at 5:33 AM
So your response to "legally hoyo can't use AI" is "they probably still will" cool, so what's stopping any company that signed the sag agreement from using AI? Breach of contract?

Lmao

Just

Lol

Those union hires had no reason to leave in the first place and several have come out saying they would return but are being threatened to lose insurance coverage and being fined by sag. Hoyo has no problem with them working there, it's sag that is stopping them via threats
May 21, 2025 at 1:22 AM
The union workers I've heard from said they can work for 3 months then either have to join the union or have to leave the project. The taff heartly extension is apparently a long process that is difficult to get approved. So says union members.

Unless someone who works for the company makes a statement then everything known about the strike and companies is speculation unfortunately.

As for "nothing to lose" they have nothing to gain. They "lose" by getting into contracts that limit who they can hire.
May 21, 2025 at 1:18 AM
I don't know why. But speculation would make me believe that they already have protection in place so why get tied up with more contracts?
May 21, 2025 at 1:10 AM
That's true. But a lot of actors live in California or their studio that they are hired by us based in California which is not a right to work state.
May 21, 2025 at 1:08 AM
If I was running a company why would I want the hiring of talent to be more difficult? And why would I want to get any fines? They gain nothing from signing the agreement.
May 21, 2025 at 1:07 AM
They already have AI protection from Chinese law.
May 21, 2025 at 1:04 AM
I don't want anyone getting recast. But hoyo has made it clear that they aren't signing with sag. They have nothing to gain from it. And it would hurt non union VAs, and they hire a lot of those.
Unfortunately it's at the breaking point now. Either work or it's a resignation. 2/2
May 21, 2025 at 12:52 AM
Honestly no, I don't have access to the contract. There has been speculation about it though.

Here's someone breaking down their view.
Hoyo is based in China and Singapore who have strict union laws. The Singapore laws could be the more relevant part? 1/2

NetEase didn't sign it. Marvel signed it on their behalf. Marvel is an American company. So they could sign based on that affiliation. Same for Tencent. It was their LA branch that signed. Mihoyo doesn't have an affiliate company in the US that can sign it.

Paimon's VA, who I don't agree with, said the goal is for Genshin to become a union project. So how about instead of a straw man argument you answer the question? You apparently have more information than me. What is the goal of the strike since it can't be AI or union project related?
May 21, 2025 at 12:09 AM
Bargaining power for what? People have already stated that the goal is for hoyo to become a union project. As has been stated countless times, that CAN'T happen. Also AI protection is built into Chinese law so that's off the table too. So if not to flip union or AI protection, what is the goal?
