It doesn’t have to say something if it evokes emotion through things like the characters or the story. That's really what matters. A simple story of, say, "beating the bad guys" can be great if it effectively gets you to feel the emotion behind the character's struggles and goals.

Making you think does not make something a good show. Having emotional impact does, and usually a meaty theme naturally brings emotions with it, but emotions can exist without the need for a focus on some sort of philosophy.

No one watches these movies to waste time. Movies aren't slop just because they aren't pretentious enough for you. Most people watch movies because they want to feel something, not because they want to solve a puzzle about what the movie means after the fact. If you want to do that, go for it -

My issue with social media is that people just believe whatever they want to believe. “Is Trump a cannibal? Some random account said he might be, and I want that to be true, so he is!” It’s the same thing with this. Does Parker hate furries? She made a tweet which could potentially be perceived -

Please don’t massively insult people out of nowhere when said person has done nothing to instigate aggression and simply thinks that an account is intended as parody. That sort of stuff is what makes social media so toxic. We need less people being like that home alone profile guy.

You don’t know she’s playing a character. She hasn’t done anything to indicate this is a character, given the lack of comedy or satire the account produces. Why create an account and play a character where you just…act like a normal account on Bluesky?
