Link looks up at the Great Fairy with a faintly determined expression, before he shakes his head no again. She presses a sharp nail to her lower lip beneath a bemused smile in response. "Hmm... Then you trust that my decisions aren't inherently cruel... simply because I've embraced a selfish face." We zoom out to see more of her intrigued expression as she muses aloud. "Just as your decisions aren't inherently selfless, simply because you are the hero. You don't wish to save the world for its sake... nor for the sake of the goddesses. They burdened you with rescuing their accursed treasure, after all." The headless fairy statue stands in silent vigil above them both, bringing attention to the triangular treasure in its hands. The Great Fairy's expression grows more wild as she speaks, eyes widening, mouth opening in an excited grin. "No. You will save it for YOUR sake. YOUR reasons, whatever they are. Because THAT is what will make you see this through. What desire will you plunge into the abyss to chase? What do you change yourself for, hero?"

Link, pausing in the middle of drawing his sword, stares down at a hand that has emerged, dripping, from the dark pool. It grips a jewel-coated dagger in its hand. "Did you drop this?" the voice questions. When Link shakes his head no and sheathes his sword, the hand and dagger both vanish back beneath the surface with a splash, accompanied by an amused "Ha ha ha" echoing through the room. A woman's face emerges, wearing a crown of thorns. The room darkens, as red light trickles up the roots of the fairy statue behind her. She rises above the water's surface to loom over Link, revealing the form of a Great Fairy with long, unevenly braided hair, dark eyes, tattered ears, sharp nails, and tattered wings that resemble thorny stems more than insect wings. She grins down at Link, one hand lifted to her smiling lips as he recoils slightly from her. "An honest person, at least..." she remarks.

Gesturing to herself, the Great Fairy speaks. "I know I don't quite have the image of a faerie... Do you believe that Ganon's cruel magic is to blame?" Her grin opens wider, exposing wet, sharp teeth. "Or that THIS is who I've always been?" "You've seen how this realm works, hero. Everyone's faces reflect their hearts here. Yours would be of a gentle animal... were it not for the Moon Pearl, and your need to hold that sword." We see the glowing Moon Pearl hanging from Link's neck, where he gently grasps it in his fingers. Within the pearl, a tiny image of a rabbit's head is visible. In the next panel, we can see a more distant view of Link looking up with modest concern at the looming Great Fairy as she examines her nails. The room around them both begins to fill with smoke from her pool. "So who else but a cruel faerie... would relish in becoming something her sisters fear?"

I also had a TON of fun making a new #PNGtuber to use for October streaming~ Instead of drawing over my usual Amber like I did last year, I made her completely from scratch! This meant I could organize my layers better, and inevitably get carried away with expressions~
