I've seen so many people online using the government shutdown as an opportunity to demonize people who receive SNAP benefits, WIC and any kind of government assistance.

Here's the thing:

I agree with those people.

We need to end the WHITE welfare state

BECAUSE welfare works.

The two term limit was overwhelmingly championed by Republicans so there wouldn't be another FDR. Why would they scoff at rescinding their own legislation now that they control all three branches? Why do people waste time talking about the legality? They can literally write whatever law they want.

I still would support Platner in Maine, regardless of past posts. I grew up a shitty white kid in New Hampshire. If you dig up my history, you would find the same. People can grow and be better.

The most depressing development has still been that FBI agents I used to get tips from and network with to improve reports for are just gone now. Missing from every financial crimes meeting. Drug trafficking and human trafficking don't matter. They need to harass innocent Americans for documents.

The actual picture regarding Robinson might be more nuanced: www.kenklippenstein.com/p/exclusive-....

Unfortunately, nuance doesn't get much breathing room these days.

Call Trump's order on debanking what it is: a demand that banks take on unnecessary and dangerous risk to benefit his cronies at the expense of the institution's depositors.

OCC wants to "eliminate politicized or unlawful debarking" by reminding us about regulation that already exists and taking meaningless action over crypto organizations. Which kind of admits that the Feds now see rug pull schemes as legal, so long as they involve crypto.

As a career banker, it's been amazingly depressing to watch the American Bankers Association cheer the legalization of fraud and the return of high-risk debt to poison our financial system.
