Playing 60s/70s style solo Subbuteo on the kitchen table on Monday nights while listening to 'The Monday Night Club' on 5Live. Some summer cycling in and around Clackmannanshire.
Last week was a good week for me thanks to @prolapseband.bsky.social & @sulkrooms.bsky.social

Last night Coventry City squeezed past Dagenham to make it into the draw for the 4th Round of the FA Cup at Sunnyside. Coming up, Guinness Exports vs West Bromwich Albion in the next round on Monday.

After a tight first half the game opens up. Dagenham score a second and look strong favourites to go on and win but a poor block lets City back into the game. A late Coventry equaliser means both teams will need to do it all again in a few days time.

Half-time in an old-fashioned Scottish kitchen: Coventry City 0 Dagenham 1.

The solo Subbuteo season at Sunnyside is fast drawing to an end but there are still a few games to go. Tonight we move on to the 3rd Round of the FA Cup (70/71 teams & format) with two Subbuteo heavyweight teams facing off: division 1 Coventry City (ref 43) and non league Dagenham (ref 1).

I suppose everyone is watching Norway chess but last night Dundee Utd (Top Spin HW) faced Kilmarnock (Santiago U-paint) in the kitchen at Sunnyside. Although there were only four shots at goal in the whole game it was probably the best I've played this season. Next up, a ref 23 restoration...

Keeping the magnetic tape machines alive. Big thanks to Kemper Norton and @rapideyeelectro.bsky.social and also those at Zona Watusa.

Round 10 of fixtures in the solo Subbuteo league at Sunnyside is an all Santiago TS affair between Airdrie (ref 183) and Falkirk (1969 kit).
Painted the Falkirk team during the summer as it's the first Falkirk kit I remember and will be nice to have just in case they ever come up against Alloa.

Creeping towards the midpoint of the solo Subbuteo league at Sunnyside with another Subbuteo HW vs Santiago match-off. This time around Hibs (ref 45, bought from 'Scobbie's Sports' in 1976) are up against Partick Thistle (ref 181). Only three points between the teams so lets see how they go.

Early in the season Santiago TS teams were out performing Subbuteo heavyweights but in the last few weeks the tables have turned and it was the Celtic HW team that won through last night. Fielding a crouching keeper didn't help Hearts but, in the end, the final 4-1 score line flattered Celtic.

Last night's Round 8 fixture of the Scottish League Division 1 at Sunnyside saw Celtic (early 70's, ref 25 Subbuteo heavyweight team) dawning large white numbers for the first time. They also received their first base polish in nearly 5 decades but would they overcome the mighty Heart of Midlothian?

After all this time I haven't ever imagined that I get into 'ambient metal' but through @rapideyeelectro.bsky.social and Zona Watusa it seems I have: Querétaro by Nadja

Aberdeen overcome St Johnstone 5-0, the most one-sided scoreline since I started playing solo Subbuteo again at Sunnyside. Probably due to the combination of a poor effort at polishing the new Santiago team on their first outing and the fact that the St Johnstone keeper didn't make a save!

After the excitement of the Poland vs Scotland match it's Round 7 of the Scottish League Division 1 at Sunnyside with Aberdeen (early 70s Subbuteo Heavyweight ref 41) up against St Johnstone (U-paint Santiago Table Soccer team, 66/67 colours). Both teams looking for their first win.

Keeping 'The Examiner' by @janicehallett.bsky.social for something good to read over the Christmas period. In the meantime I'm working my way through the Paul Temple series by Francis Durbridge. Up to book 6 now and oh, how the times have changed (well, apart from the murders...).
