If a single official is needed to coordinate national security for a 9/11 level threat, perhaps a Homeland Security czar activated only for such an emergency with a limited duration (1-2 years at most) and with a vote by Congress. The term could be extended for another term by Congressional vote.

Even better, abolish Homeland Security altogether and return everything to the pre-Homeland Security Act of 2002.

My only hesitation in supporting a shutdown is the pain it will cause many who do not support the Trump regime. As for the MAGATS who do support him and are, at this moment, actively licking his boots and swallowing all the shit Trump and Noem are feeding them, I am beyond caring…
