It is up to you! The base is provided for people who simply just want to draw the outfit without having to worry about the body! But it is not required ^^ It is up to your preferences as the artist.

An odd one but I absolutely refuse to re-rig a model that someone else has rigged.
I fell down that rabbit hole once and I absolutely hated every second of it because the client was so judgmental toward the old rigging.
