I LOVE my settings! This world has eight dominions, and each is home to 2-4 floating islands.

My story mainly takes place in a dominion closely associated with elemental magic, that worships the world’s death goddess. (What a sentence!) I am having the time of my LIFE building the culture!!

"Intercept," featuring my main character Amaya being annoyed with her travelling companion, Rhiannon. Not everyone can know as much about magic, amirite?
An excerpt from UNDER SHATTERED SKIES that reads: I pull her to the side, where the crowd is a few people emptier, and pull my weathering stone from where it sits in my back pocket. Rhiannon just watches as I strike the stone against the merizine crystal embedded in my hand. The message fights me as I send it to Sable, nearly intercepted by a thousand other magical signatures. I blow out a breath and concentrate, trying to visualize Sable and her magical signature, and send— “What are you doing?” Rhiannon asks, breaking my concentration. The spell shatters; my heartbeat quickened for nothing. I glare at Rhiannon for a moment, staring into her big clueless eyes, and grit my teeth. “Trying to send a message to Sable.”
