Trump is losing at his own game. He is a Fascist, a Nazi, a 🏳️‍⚧️phobe, a racist, and a deeply evil person. His base ignores his for his "business sense"; kneecapping US industry so TSMC can maybe one day produce 5% of their total product here is a severe blunder that will be touted as a win. FDT. 9/9

TSMC has a fiduciary responsibility first and foremost to Taiwan. They will never move the core of their operations to the US, no matter what JD Vance claims. By killing the Chips act funds, you sacrifice Intel, and other smaller domestic companies with growth potential for a big foreign power. 8/🧵

By TSMC investing $165b into 5 new chip fabs bc of the threat of tariffs, you guarantee Intel is doomed to fail. By getting TSMC here thru tariffs, you give them no reason to fulfill their commitment once the tariffs are inevitably lifted. (See the failed Foxconn plant in WI) 7/🧵

... and the only reason China hasn't invaded Taiwan yesterday (DISCLAIMER: I have no illusions of the US or China being a good/bad guy here; they're both evil empires that worsen humanity day by day. Just to say Trump is losing at his own trade war) 6/🧵

So, in the face of a trade opponent who's getting ready to out-research you and a major domestic job-creating company that's struggling, what does Trump do? Slash all research funding with DOGE and then invite in TSMC, a Taiwanese fab who is Intel's biggest market rival... 5/🧵

Meanwhile, Intel (one of the biggest chipmakers in US) is struggling big-time, firing the CEO and 15% of workers. They were surviving in part thx to funds given from Biden's CHIPS act, but now Trump is killing that too. Intel was to build a new microchip fab in Ohio to supply 10k jobs. 4/🧵

After years of leveling embargos, China's has no tools to make processors in line with current-gen Intel/Nvidia releases. But after years of being cut off, China is building back and is now doubling America's research into next-gen chipmaking 3/🧵

Trump began a trade war over semiconductors with China in the last days of his presidency, now nicknamed the "Chip War". It's been raging ever since and it's based on the US blocking China's access to leading-edge computer chip making 2/🧵
