My great grandparents who left Italy to flee the rise of fascism. My great grandma was a child bride brought to America. She would later escape to be with my great grandpa, who had come to this country hidden on a cargo ship. My grandpa and his siblings were birth right citizens.

Despite it all, I chose joy this weekend. My birthday was yesterday and I tried my best to make it magical. I ended my birthday with delicious crepes. Grateful for the small things. 💕✨
