American corporate news is horrible. I get better news coverage of about the US, and I live in Canada. 🇨🇦 Even for the huge No Kings protests. This is why our Canadian conservatives are so desperate to get rid of our public broadcaster - so they can wield the same power over the media.

I’ve been hearing all about “checks and balances” from my American husband, who grew up learning about this in school (I’m Canadian). Will the Supreme Court do its job and finally manifest this idea? Because the Constitution is just a piece of paper unless it is put it into action. 🧐

NATO has given us relative peace and stability in the Western world for 80 years.

Do you trust the US to come and save us if we are threatened? Do you trust that they will not be the aggressor themselves? NATO is on shaky ground now that the US is unreliable at best. The world order has been tipped this year, and not in our favour - pay attention!

You can’t just assume that wealthy people are only wealthy because they aren’t paying taxes. I pay A LOT in taxes every year, but I am happy to do so, and see it funding things that make our country safer and better (public education, universal healthcare, infrastructure, and yes, defence).

Not a war machine - a means to defend ourselves at a time when relative peace and order in the western world is being thrown out the window by the US. Pay attention to world politics and you will understand why we need to be able to protect ourselves.

What are you talking about? Would you rather Pierre take the helm? Because other than Carney, PP would be the realistic alternative if there were to be another election called, which hopefully there is not. I for one certainly do not want PP representing us on the world stage.

Yes, watching from Canada, and horrified that our neighbours have gone into full fascist mode.
Oddly, I am more informed about US politics than my in-laws who live down there. Their daily lives haven’t changed much so they just look away, shrug, and move on to talking about superficial things. 😖

Spot on. I need to show this comic to my in-laws next time they ask me why I refuse to visit them in the US. They still have their heads stuck in the sand and think nothing is amiss. Everything is fine if you only care about yourself and you’re wealthy/white. 😑

Same. We used to travel to the US multiple times per year to visit my in-laws and to go on other vacations, but not anymore. We spent a lot of tourist dollars in the US on hotels, car rentals, restaurants, events, souvenirs, etc. but now I spend my $ at home (Canada) & other friendly/free nations. 🇨🇦

I think even if poorer MAGA folk see this video and know it is real, they will still be ok with the extravagance because he gives them permission to be as racist, homophobic, and misogynistic as they want to be. They will probably even applaud him and call him a stud for having a party like this. 🙄

Many Americans have no idea how much danger their country is in. My American in-laws are still going to parties, spa, etc. like nothing has changed. They are wealthy/white though.

Yup. I’m Canadian and I don’t think I’ll ever trust the Americans to not elect another psychopath in my lifetime. The damage is done.
